Often public festivals are held with good organisation, but the organizers can overlook the important importance of being able to address the crowds on a large scale. The other day we were at an outdoor derby with 100s of people, who all needed organizing at pre-determined time intervals. Unfortunately the group that arranged the event did not put in sufficent thought to the days events and how hard it is to move all those people around.
They were fortunate enough to move people into the correct place, but once the festivities started, there was no way that people could be shuffled around in any sensible manner. Hopefully they have learned their lesson now, and will buy a decent megaphone next time.
